This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect when you use homeatsearch — the search software (the “Software”) and the features it offers (the “Services”) — and what we do with it. It goes hand in hand with our Terms of Use and becomes a binding agreement between you and us whenever you use the Services. If you don’t agree with it, please don’t install or use the Software.
You confirm that you are at least 13 years old. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13, and if any reaches us we’ll delete it. If you think a child under 13 has given us information, please email hello@homeatsearch.com. If you’re under 18, please read this alongside a parent or guardian.
Most of what we gather is anonymous, aggregated information (“Anonymous Data”) about your device and how you use the Services. That can include technical details your device sends, your browser type and default search choice, your operating system, language, the time and date you use the Services, the page that brought you to us, your rough location, your internet provider, and your IP address. In some places, items like an IP address may be treated as personal. We use Anonymous Data only to run, improve, customise, and study the Services.
If you write to us for help and choose to share details like your name and email, we collect that identifying information (“Identifying Data”) purely so we can reply and help. Where we technically can, we’ll ask for your permission first and let you opt out.
We don’t sell or hand your Identifying Data to others. We might disclose it only when we genuinely believe it’s needed to obey the law or a government request, to enforce our agreements or defend a legal claim, to look into fraud or security problems, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of us, our users, or anyone else.
Anonymous Data may be used or shared for the reasons above and with partners who help us operate — such as search-feed suppliers, support vendors, and analytics providers — so we can see how the Services are used and make them better. We may also share information with companies in our group, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, as long as whoever receives it keeps to this policy. If we ever join Identifying Data with Anonymous Data, we’ll treat the whole thing as Identifying Data for as long as it stays combined.
If you live in the European Economic Area, we’ll take suitable measures to protect your Identifying Data when it moves outside the EEA. Where your local law needs your consent for that move, accepting this policy provides it.
We and our partners (such as Google Analytics) may use cookies — small text files saved on your device — to help things run smoothly and remember your preferences. You can switch cookies off in your browser, but some features may stop working if you do. This policy doesn’t cover third-party sites or services you might reach through the Services. Their practices are their own and outside our control, so please read their privacy policies before using them.
You can uninstall the Software and reset your device settings whenever you want. Depending on your local laws, you may be able to see, correct, or delete your Identifying Data — just email hello@homeatsearch.com, and note that we may need to confirm who you are first. You can also change your mind after consenting and opt out of collection through the Settings menu, though some features may then stop working. You can opt out of certain advertising cookies through the Network Advertising Initiative and Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out pages.
We hold on to information only as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it, unless the law or the need to keep accurate records (for example, if there’s a complaint) means we keep it longer. We use strong measures to guard against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure, but nothing is ever 100% secure, and we can’t be responsible for access beyond our reasonable control. We may update this policy at any time; updates take effect when we publish them, and the date above marks the latest version. Keep using the Services and you accept the change. If a change would clearly affect how you use the Services or the data we collect, we’ll try to tell you through the Services.
